Since the early 1960s, I have developed a keen interest in
the area of Muskoka both in general history and in the postal history as well.
What I would like to attempt in the following pages is to take you on a
philatelic and postcard tour of the area.
It has been said that I have too many hobbies. Well, this may
or may not be true, but at least they keep me happy. I started collecting stamps
in 1956 and have spread out to postal history and postcards as well. My stamp
interests are Canada and Provinces, (which include revenues and other
assortments), Great Britain and colonies, to independence, Belgium and colonies
(t.i.), Germany - States - and colonies, U.S. airmails, Hawaii and Martial Arts
on stamps. My postal history interests are Muskoka / Parry Sound regions,
Canadian military history, 1939 Royal Visit to Canada, Nfld., and U.S.A.,
Canadian R.P.O.s. The postcards I collect are Muskoka / Parry Sound, Canadian
military, steamships, ocean liners worldwide, the steamer Noronic, 1939 Royal
Visit and the 1939 N.Y.W.F. I am always interested in acquiring new material.
While I am on the topic of hobbies, my other areas of delight
are in old movies and some modern as well and German beer steins.
All items are from my personal collection unless otherwise
noted.
